I’ve spent the last few days tweaking this sit as I learn how to use the WordPress tools and widgets better. I can get quite obsessive about how I think something should look and feel. More changes to come. This blog lives and grows by hope and ambition. Your feedback is always greatly appreciated. Please note the new tabs near the top to find certain topics easier to find.

It is my intention to continue posting once a week. My co-pilot, Patricia Lezama, just moved, so we’ll let her get settled into her new place for a couple of weeks before I start barking demands for new content at her. I am also busy working on a collection of dark fairytales. I will likely craft a separate writing page and link it to here. I intend to make the first story free to read. I hope you will look forward to that project, as I am excited to share it! Finally, I would like to say that I am entirely too young to be retired in any fashion and must look for ways to make my own income. These are exciting times. There are so many companies, nonprofits and government programs invested in making the world a better place. I feel I have two paths before me. Do I find my niche within an existing organization or do I build my own? I will say that I prefer to be the brainy sidekick or assistant than the main character. My natural inclination is to lead from the side and amplify the abilities of the people around me then dominate the stage or setting.

The Nature-led Life 
I am getting tired of having to spend so much time to post a page of frippery that I have considered ditching my blog altogether. I suspect that WordPress would like everyone to “pay them rent” in which case, I will pack my toys and flounce off! Pensions do not run to such extra expense.
But, although the wider blogging community seems to have decamped to quick-n-easy platforms, I still enjoy the camaraderie of those bloggers who have stayed the course.

I took a good ten year break from blogging and only kept it active so I could keep in touch with people I already felt a connection with, like our mutual friend Mago and a few other people. The important thing is, what do you get out of it? Right now, I want to focus on a purpose, but there’s no harm in keeping a blog just be able to check-in with the friends you’ve already made.

WordPress can be a time-suck when it comes to tinkering. I learn the appropriate skills I need for the drop-down boxes, use the skills for one day, and then 6 months later when I want to re-tinker I find I have forgotten how it all works [or they’ve changed it!]. I pay for my site – and this is what stops me from returning to Blogger, and these days Blogger is even more clunky than WordPress.
I shall look forward to the dark fairy-tales, Melanie!

Thank you, Scarlet! I’ve come to the same conclusion. A long time about I used to be fairly proficient at writing HTML but I’ve forgotten most of it now and I’m too busy learning new things, to go back for a refresher.

I don’t have any suggestions, but I do like that everything is nice and clear.
I considered WordPress for a little while (when Blogger got all repressed and prudish), but it seemed quite fiddly and far too professional for the old toot that I spew out. However, Blogger is also now VERY fiddly, and plagued with errors, side-effects, and clunkiness…
I’m looking forward to the fairy tales, too!

Thank you IDV, it’s nice to get some feedback on the format! That Magnolia is a real survivor. It was completely overtaken by Cherry Laurel when I first moved in.
